First masterwork down, plenty to go... (5 stars)
I was skeptical when I ran out of old Genesis albums to work through, afraid that Peter Gabriel would have completely moved on from the epic progressive rock he made with his former band. And he did, but he did it in all the right ways. Peter Gabriel (Car) set the bar for the rest of his work, and ensured that he was as artistically creative and restless as ever.

Great Record. (5 stars)
Peter Gabriel's first album is truly magnificent. Experimental, but also pleasing to the ear, Gabriel always finds the balance necessary between what's easy to hear and what takes that extra effort to listen beneath the surface.

A classic (5 stars)
This album has always been great for me. A wide variety of styles. The opening track has all the strange artistic brilliance that Peter made famous in Genesis. I LOVE it. Solsbury Hill is just one of the best songs ever recorded. The rocker Modern Love is great and this version of Here Comes The Flood is the original recording and still my favorite above the remakes. All the other tracks are great too.

The record, as well as its two similarly titled successors, established Gabriel as a critically acclaimed cult artist, and...
